About Helen

In her work as an artist Helen specialises in creating original, site-specific art in paint, stained glass and mosaic, commissioned by a wide range of individuals and organizations in the USA, Ireland, and UK. Her technical skills combined with her ability to problem solve, collaborate, and connect with a shared artistic vision, have generated a wide spectrum of artistic experiences. These range from a 110 ft by 9 ft painted mural on permanent display in the Glasgow Concert Hall, to a 2000 square feet church artwork in mosaic.

After completing a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, Helen continued her studies with a postgraduate qualification from St Martins College and a stained glass apprenticeship in Siena, Italy. Based in Wexford, Ireland, she has travelled and exhibited extensively.

In addition to her large-scale commissions Helen lectures, runs art classes, and facilitates group art projects that require an understanding of the needs and abilities of each individual in the group in order to fully encompass their experiences in a meaningful manner. In 2012, the group exhibition ‘Lives Remembered’, commissioned by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, and directed by Helen, won the Emer Lovett Award at the Wexford Opera Festival.

Helen's recent public artwork 'The Wexford Whale and Chaineys Project' for Wexford Quays, created in association with the Arts Council of Ireland and Wexford Arts Centre, was featured on the RTE News in 2021. Click here to view the feature.

Upon completing a large mosaic artwork for St Colmcilles Church, Northern Ireland, Helen was interviewed by the Irish Times in relation to her work. The resulting newspaper article and video broadcast of 2017 can be seen by clicking here which will take you to the relevant section of the Irish Times website.

During the first lockdown period of the covid-19 pandemic, Helen was again commissioned to create a mosaic artwork for St Colmcilles. The piece, titled 'Guardian Angel', was a winner in the USA based, annual Art for Sacred Spaces International Art Competition for 2020. Images of this artwork can be seen on the news page.
